Notes The speaker of the poem describes a chid's beautiful singing voice in this poem, as she sings a Christmas song about the coming of the baby Jesus. The speaker retrospectively realises, however, that at the same time, the voices of the children of Sandy Hook school were forever extinguished by an act of domestic terrorism when a twenty-year old man killed 26 students and members of staff in the school.
