Notes In this sequence of poems, the narrator interacts with the personification of the moon, and a conversation ensues between them. In this section, the narrator attempts to discover who the mysterious voice is, while she taunts him by asking him about the craft of poetry, and whether it is better to be understood by one, or praised by many. The moon, who describes herself as 'Ré, Brigid, or Selene', then discusses the meaning of colonization and invasion with the narrator. As an Irish person, she states, he should understand better than most how it felt to be 'invaded' by people from earth, who stuck flags into her white skin.
