Notes | This poem is part of the lyric sequence, 'An Fear sa Ghealach'. In this section, the personification of the moon lists the crimes that men have wrought upon the earth and upon women, and gives different examples, ranging from Page 3 and Baywatch to the killing of women poets in Afghanistan and the murder and rape of women, female genital mutilation (FGM), domestic violence, and child abuse. This section is interspersed with a refrain, accusing the narrator of being a part of these crimes, since he is a man: 'cúisímid thú, cáinimid thú, daoraimid thú.' |
