Paratext Text | I ndilchuimhne ar James Murray, saighdiúir singil, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, a maraíodh ar an Somme, Dé Chéadaoine 6ú Meán Fómhair 1916 |
Notes | The speaker of the poem remembers his uncle, who died in World War I - James Murray. It appears that the memory of his uncle has been neglected, and his final resting place itself is unknown. The speaker of the poem travels around areas of France, close to where his uncle fell at the Somme, in search of his spirit. He is comforted by the fact that the fields on which his uncle died are as green and lush as the glens of Donegal from whence James Murray came. |
