Paratext Text Tá lámh an tSacsanaigh láidir crua - is neart a cheart, is deargár a bhua; is bréag a mhóide, is is fuilteach a lann, is is mithid domh éaló ar sáile anonn. Nioclás Ó Cearnaigh, Ar sáile Anonn
Notes The paratext is from 19th-century poet Nioclás Ó Cearnaigh, and describes the power and malice of the colonizing English. In the poem itself, the speaker is perturbed by young men from Belfast going to fight in the British Army during the invasion of Iraq, under the emblem of the Irish Guards. This disturbs him as the young soldiers in Iraq will be doing to Iraqis what the British soldiers in Northern Ireland did to him - namely, stopping and searching. The speaker cannot understand why members of a colonized people would participate in a colonial-style war themselves, in Iraq.
