Paratext Text | (Ómós do Rosa Parks 1913-2005) 2 Samhain 2005 Nóta Dlí Jim Crow a chuir iachall ar dhaoine dubha a suíocháin a thabhairt suas do dhaoine geala dá mba ghá. (Foilsithe i Riposte) |
Notes | Poem written in praise of Rosa Parks, who refused to cede her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery bus, which caused the Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955-1956 and contributed to the progress of the Civil Rights Movement in North America. An allusion in the poem to Jim Crow Laws that enforced racial segregation. Emphasis on the quiet dignity of Rosa Parks who refused to bow to racism that the state had legislated for and whose actions underscored the need for law reform. |
