Notes | Composed in 1914, this poem criticises Wilhelm II's involvement in WW1 - his utter disregard for the lives of civilians, and the brutality of the German army. There is also a reference to the Jameson Raid which was a contributory cause of the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902). |
