Notes This is a satirical rendering of 'Silent night', the Christmas Carol celebrating the birth of Christ. This speaker of the poem lambasts the US and George W. Bush for the horrors of the Iraq war, mentioning Guantánamo prison as housing Christ himself, and noting Saddam Hussein as a tyrant which the US forces are determined to oust from power. The speaker of the poem also describes war planes and bombs which attack Iraq. The final verse of the poem seems to hint at the real motivation of the Iraq War: profit and oil.
