Paratext Text | At the terrace table Źrnovo 17 September 2012 |
Notes | The speaker of the poem reminisces on his daughter and son playing Germans and Partisans as part of a children's game. The knowledge of his daughter's death imbues the event with a certain import for the speaker, since his daughter's childish shouting is repeated still by the neighbour's parrot. Notably, the town of Žrnovo, which the poet acknowledges in the paratext, did see substantial partisan activities during World War II. |
