Paratext Text In the polje Žrnovo 11 August 2013
Notes This poem could either refer to the war after the break-up of Yugoslavia and ill-treatment of non-Serbian peoples, or could possibly refer to the genocide of Serbs in Croatia by the puppet Nazi regime of Ustaše during World War II. The snail is a 'totemic' creature of the place, a 'small immigrant' in a land 'ingrained with ethnicities'.
