Paratext Text Abair leis gan ligint do bhronntanais saibhre ná maoin mhór ná brabús é a dhalladh ar na lagracháin is a bhfulaingt. Audacht Morainn, c. 700 AD.
Notes The speaker of the poem describes how a 'food chain' should be in the natural world, giving various examples of the brutal laws of nature, then comments on how humanity has utterly failed to keep itself in balance in any way. This poem appears to be a commentary on uncontrollable greed and the human nature towards possession, all the while other starve and live in hardship. The paratext is a quote from Audacht Morainn, which was a primer on good kingship and leadership for Irish kings. The implication here is that humanity has failed to uphold these standards.
