Notes The first-person speaker of this poem is a young girl, Panchali, from Bangladesh, who is engaged in making football jerseys for the World Cup, in Qatar 2022. The poem is a searing portrayal of the realities of global capitalism - the child labour and underpaid work that goes into producing the pleasures and cheap commodities of the Western world. The speaker also references her mother's work in the same factory and her father's lot as a migrant worker in Qatar.
