Notes Haiku, in which the speaker of the poem mentions Shannon Airport and a sense of shame; this is clearly in reference to the use of the airport as a stop-off point for American military aircraft as part of the USA's 'war on terrorism' in the aftermath of 9/11 and during the Iraq War. This use raises questions about Ireland's neutrality and it's adherence to international human rights law if used during 'extraordinary rendition'. The 'Róisín Dubh' in the title is a poetic name for Ireland.
