| Notes | On International Labour Day celebrated on May 1st, workers' unions -mostly men- march in Dublin when they encounter a group of women marching for women's rights. The poem alludes to Irish Women United and the Women's Liberation Movement that Dorcey was active in as a founding member, raising questions about class and gender discrimination in the workplace and society, as well as the spaces women occupy in revolutionary struggles. |
