| Notes | This collection of poetry is mostly set in Slovenia. This poem refers to the poet-speaker seeing graffiti, which makes derogatory reference to the 'G8', the so-called 'Group of Eight', the eight most wealthy liberal democracies in the world (now G7 after Russia's departure). There is a reference to a writer speaking of partisans and fascists, in the same location where this graffiti is now located. The poet-speaker refers to her role among the locals, who defer to her as she is a native English speaker. |
