Notes To contextualize this poem, it seems to have been written in direct opposition to the widely published 'Ó Mo Bheirt Phalaistíneach' by Michael Davitt. Davitt's poem, detailing the killing of Palestinians during the Lebanon War, is undoubtedly in support of the Palestinian cause. This poem appears to have been written in response to a spate of Palestinian suicide bombings attacks in Israel in the 1990s, or possibly the Second Intifada from 2000-2005. The speaker of this poem supports Israel, an unusual stance in Irish-language poetry. He claims not to understand why the Israeli Jewish people are so hated, since they only wish to make the desert fertile and fruitful. The poem centres around two Jewish people who are killed in a bus that was destroyed by a bomb.
