Notes | This poem is another in a series describing the life of Dónall Dubh, a dark character whose life is described in this collection. In this poem, the speaker imagines a horrendous image of the future, in which waters are polluted with phosphorous and ammonia, the sun shines like a nuclear bomb, and roads criss-cross nature. The radio, in this world, is constantly on, and discusses only three things: freedom, terrorism, and the United States. This could be a reflection on the ongoing War on Terror, or US intervention to prevent terrorism in the post 9/11 era. |
