| Paratext Text | - Beijing 2008 |
| Notes | This poem reflects upon the meaning of human rights and human progress in the Beijing 2008 Olympic games. The speaker of the poem strongly hints at human rights violations that should be remembered, even as the world heads off to the Olympic games in Beijing. These games in particular were controversial due to the human rights violations that occurred as a result of the preparation and hosting of the games themselves: harassment of political and media enemies, forced evictions, and an increase in arrests and detentions. |
