Notes | This poem reflects on the destruction caused by Israel's pursuit of two kidnapped Israeli soldiers. The kidnapping of two members of the Israeli Defence Forces by Hezbollah led to the outbreak of the Lebanon War. This poem focuses on the the effect of the Israeli tanks and military on Palestinian lands, building, and crops, with the different in the value of lives all too clear - the Israelis are in pursuit of two captured soldiers, but don't seem to mind the deaths caused in Lebanon or Gaza. There are references to water and electricity supplies being cut off. American President George W. Bush is also mentioned in the poem. America refused to criticize Israeli exploits during the Lebanon War. |
