Notes There is no explicit reference to human rights violations in this poem, but the last stanza mentions peace talks and " the shape of the table". This is a reference to Vietnam War peace negotiations, where the representatives of North and South Vietnam disputed over the most appropriate shape of table at which the negotiations where to be held (circular versus rectangular, respectively). First published in Mules (1977).
