| Paratext Text | Kosovo minefields |
| Notes | The poem describes the Kosovo minefields. The speaker of the poem, an Irish peacekeeping soldier, is warned of the imminent danger by a gruesome metal skeleton, wearing a helmet, that 'tallies his birthdays', and yells at him 'ACHTUNG MINEN' 'BEWARE MINES'. Kosovo was rife with minefields and the existence of these minefields to this day is disputed. |
