Notes This poem traces some of the details of Syrian refugees and the danger of their crossing, as well as the dangers in Syria itself. A bombing in Aleppo is described, leading to fleeing people, leading to people being caught in the barbed wire of the Mediterranean, leading to their drowning and deaths. The West's lacklustre commiseration is noted in the poem. The media atmosphere is hinted in the poem as well, with the speaker stating that 'every day we see them' - presumably on the news and newspapers.
