Paratext Text | (Ar Chearnóg Wenceslas) |
Notes | This poem makes explicit reference to the Prague Spring, and describes the actions and legacy of Jan Palach, who committed an act of self-immolation to protest against the armies of the Warsaw Pact (USSR) invading Czechslovakia in 1968. The subtitle of the poem - Wenceslas Square - was the site of the self-immolation. Jan Palach's name will not be forgotten, according to the speaker of the poem. |
