Notes This poem is addressed to 'the Presidents', who are not clearly identified, but are likely referring to Presidents of the United States of America. There are references here to bombing of Asian cities, most notably Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. The speaker of the poem appears to be the 'Eastern World', who has been interfered with over the years. At the end of the poem, they state that after all the bombings, their eyes have turned 'Western' and so they yield.
