Notes This short poem refers the infamous incident during the Iraq War in 2008: President George W. Bush was assaulted by journalist, Muntadhar al-Zaidi, who removed his shoes and threw them at Bush during a press conference in Iraq. Since shoes are considered unclean in Iraqi culture, the gesture was meant as one of disrespect to Bush.
