| Notes | This poem is part of the privately published *Compass: Two Poems* (1944). This section, ‘The Return’ is dated 1935, suggesting both WW1 and WW2. It contrasts a holiday on Rathlin island with the return to local riots in Belfast and a trip to Bristol.
