Notes | This is a poem about one's native home, based around the image of the wind. Speaking directly to a companion in the poem, the speaker describes the wind's journey around the world. After bring boats home, delivering seeds, and milling the wheat, the wind 'goes home' to the companion's homeland, where they came from, and brings their father and mother 'to their long-awaited sleep.' The poem captures the longing of many emigrant people for their homeland, and in many cases, their inability to fully return. |
