| Notes | The title of this poem is an allusion to the poem 'Rosc Aimhirgín' ('Song of Amergin') from the Irish mythological cycle. Rather than invoking the spirit of Ireland, as Amergin did, the first-person speaker of this poem cites instances of humanity's destruction of the planet, including plastic pollution and nuclear pollution. 'Nimhirgín' is a play on Aimhirgín's name; 'nimh', means 'poison'. |
