Notes | This is a short poem based on the speaker's sense of displacement and dislocation, as someone who 'does not belong'. Travelling on the water of a canal, and comparing herself to both a bird that lands on the tiller, and the boat upon which she travels, the woman describes herself, like them, as one who travels 'far / to find their home'. |
