Notes | One of the two poems in the short sequence dedicated to Pearse Hutchinson. Refers to Hutchinson's poem on the Russian revolutionary Maria Spiridonova, who later became a target of the Soviet authorities and was finally shot under Stalin's regime in 1941. The poem also mentions soldiers in the streets of Moscow during the Russian presidential election of 2012 (when Vladimir Putin was again elected as president). From The Boys of Bluehill (2015). |
