Paratext Text I gcuimhne ar an mbuachaill fionn do chonac ar an Nuacht díreach sula ndearnadh sléacht ar na fir agus ar bhuachaillí óga Srebrenica
Notes The paratext of this poem in English states: 'In memory of the blond boy from Srebrenica shown on TV news just before the massacre. Also in memory of all the boys and men of Srebrenica'. This poem addresses the victim in the second person and recounts the anguish of his mother who tries to imagine what he witnessed and what his dying words were. There is an explicit reference to forensic archaeologists from the U.N. Commission identifying his body through DNA, a reminder that he was buried in a mass grave. This Irish-language translation is by Bernadette McIntyre and James Lawless.
