Notes This poem is a comment on the global inequality that exists in relation to economic rights and the ineffectiveness of global mechanisms to respond adequately. Neither domestic nor international law, the World Bank, nor the human rights regime respond adequately to the speaker's plight as a displaced person who repeatedly emphasizes the fact that he is hungry.
