Paratext Text	The Irish version of this poem by Shi Taoi was part of the PEN poem relay (www.penpoemrelay.org), a virtual relay of translations that coincided with the movement of the Olympic Torch to Beijing in 2008. It was organized by International PEN to protest the Chinese Government's imprisonment of Shi Tao
Notes	The paratext explains the context of this poem. It is a translation of a poem by Shi Tao, a Chinese writer and journalist, imprisoned by the Chinese government in 2004. Shi Tao's poem was written in commemoration of the victims of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, which occurred on 4 June 1989. The poem was translated into a number of languages as part of the PEN poem rally in the run-up to the Beijing 2008 Olympics in protest at Shi Tao's ongoing incarceration.
