Notes | The speaker of the poem describes a hypothetical post-nuclear world, in which everything and everyone has been destroyed - either frozen or roasted alive. The environment has been ruined, and the animals and humans are now absent. The speaker makes a reference to Adam and Eve and the apple in order to describe humanity's knowledge of the atom - the implication being another 'fall' of humanity. |
