Notes | The speaker of this poem is the last speaker of the 'Trillish' language. His voice is being recorded into a machine, as writing was never invented for his language. The situation, while clearly hypothetical, mirrors the situations in which many real-life minoritized languages find themselves - with only one or two speakers left, recording their language for posterity with no one to understand what is actually being said. The speaker of the poem describes certain beautiful words in Trillish which can't be replicated in other languages, including the title word, ScØnd. |
