Notes | This is a collage poem that references the work of French writer and activist Jean Genet. The 'headless convict-doll' mentioned in the poem appears to be a reference to Genet's drama 'La Bagne' (The Penal Colony), written in 1950s. The reference to war in the poem is most likely an allusion to Genet's novel 'Pompes Funèbres' (Funeral Rites) set during World War II and published in 1947.
